NEW KITCHEN?
For the last couple of weeks Dolly and I have been contemplating redoing the kitchen in our new apartment. Up until the day before yesterday only I had actually seen the kitchen. So yesterday Dolly finally got to see her new apartment that I bought while she was in the North Sea. She was pleased!
After Dolly had inspected the kitchen, though, and I had unconvincedly suggested maybe we could live with the way it is, she calmly (dis)agreed: "No, we difinitely have to do the kitchen."
The last few weeks we have been looking at different options. IKEA has an online kitchen planner where you can put together your kitchen using their designs. While Dolly was in Mallorca last week I spent a lot of time putting together a kitchen (but can you believe, I DIDN'T order it without Dolly's consent!). I went to IKEA by myself to see the furniture live, and to look at more details. (A curious side note: While Dolly was in Mallorca (Spain), I texted her while at IKEA (Swedish store) eating a version of the traditional Spanish dish called Paella. This induced sardonic laughter among her and her friends as they themselves relished Paella at an authentic restaurant in Mallorca).
Yesterday we went to IKEA together to make the final decisions, and today we ordered the new kitchen! According to plan, it will be delivered at our new door the 2nd of June. Here's a taste of the design we've chosen:

We'll have no island in our kitchen, as it's way too small. But we'll have one of those glass cabinets, with light ("spotter") inside of it. We're especially excited about the new stove, which is of the technology of "induction". It gets super hot at the blink of an eye after turning on, and cold equally rapidly after turning off. Twice as expensive, but 5 times as great! They say those who have used an induction stove never go back to other variants. This is our kitchen gem!
Let's hope we'll manage to put it all together. Most of the kitchen, like about everything else from IKEA, is delivered flat. In more than one way, we're hoping the kitchen will "inflate" considerably!
Oh, by the way, we take possession sooner (and earlier) than expected, on Saturday the 13th of May at 8 o'clock in the morning! We are restlessly waiting to tear down the old kitchen... Before and after photos will be taken! Will our project qualify as an "extreme makeover"?? Stay tuned!
