THE REGULAR UPDATE
Hello!
It´s on due time for an update on what´s going on, in line with my consistent posting every three or four months!
I´m currently working in the Hormone Laboratory (Bergen University Hospital) in continuation of my Master work and in preparation of a possible PhD program for which I recently applied (second attempt). This semester I have also been responsible for a course in nutrition for students taking a Bachelor in Public Health at Bergen College.
At home, we´ve been hosting a couple of guests (first Heidi from Iceland but who is English, then Ane from France but who is Norwegian) who are fisheries researchers, and who are colleagues of Dolly´s. They come to Bergen to collaborate with fisheries researchers who are also colleagues of Dolly´s (all of whom are foreigners, from Finland, Chech republic, Canada, France... but who live in Norway).
We bought new floors last month (Oak Family plank) to replace our pale and cold laminat. So far we´ve replaced the floors in the kitchen, guest bedroom and master bedroom. We hope to finish the living room before we leave for the US the 30th of April.
We´re going to take my parents on a tour first of Washington D.C. (including visits to the White House and the Capitol), where we will stay with Sally and Richard (Dolly´s aunt and uncle). Then we fly to Miami, meet up with my sister (Hilde) and her fiancee (Jacob) who come from Austin, Texas where they live, and we´ll drive to Key West in a rental minivan. In Key West we will be staying with George and Lee, who are Dolly´s grandparents, and who have a house there. We´ll go out on the sea and do some snorkeling, and enjoy the sparkling sun and the sparkling city! The 12th of May we fly to Kendallville, IN to visit Dolly´s parents (Terry and Grace), brother and sister (Paul and Liz), grandmother (Wilma), aunt (Vi), uncle (Phil), cousins and more. Over a weekend we´re going on a road trip to Northhampton, Massachusets (near Boston), to attend Dolly´s 2. sister´s (Catherine) college graduation the 21st of May. On the way back we´ll visit the Niagara Falls and the Rock´n´Roll Hall of Fame museum.
Dolly and I return to Norway on May 28, and shortly thereafter Dolly leaves for Austria for her 3-month PhD summer program. I´ll be working in Bergen and plan to visit Dolly in July sometime.
So that´s our plans, and as you can see there will be a lot to report on my blog in the coming months, so stay tuned!
Simon
